In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old man was lynched in Bihar’s Saran district on suspicion of transporting beef. The police gave this information on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Naseem Qureshi, a resident of Hasanpur village in Siwan district. According to a local police officer, the incident took place on Tuesday when Naseem and his nephew Firoz Qureshi were going to meet their relatives at Jogia village in Saran district.

“Both were stopped by locals near a mosque…and this was followed by a heated argument. While Firoz managed to escape, the mob allegedly thrashed Nazim with sticks. Later, the mob itself Naseem was handed over to the police at Rasulpur village (Saran), following which he was taken to a government hospital, but he died during treatment”, said Gaurav Mangala, Superintendent of Police (SP), Saran.

The SP said, “So far three people have been arrested on charges of mob lynching. The police have also launched an operation to nab other suspects involved in the case. The matter is being probed from all angles.”
