Bihar minister facing kidnapping charges resigns, says ‘party’s image is tarnished because of me’

Bihar minister Kartik Kumar, who was allegedly involved in the 2014 kidnapping case, on Wednesday resigned from his ministerial post amid protests from opposition parties. it came after hours Nitish Kumar The government removed Karthik Kumar from the post of law minister and allotted him the low-profile sugarcane department.

CM Nitish Kumar has accepted Karthik’s resignation and sent it to Governor Fagu Chauhan.

“I resigned. I was fed up with everyday debates on TV. BJP had a lot of problems with me, so I had decided that once I get a clean chit, then I will take any responsibility of the government. For me, the party is the top priority. Will work for the party and answer those criticizing me. The media is giving one-sided news. And this has caused a negative portrayal of my image. So it is my duty to clear all the confusions and only then I will see whether Have to do it,” the RJD leader told CNN-News18.

“Tejashwi never opposed my ministerial post otherwise I would not have become a minister. The image of the party has been tarnished because of me and some are campaigning against me, so I resigned.

During this, Bihar Revenue Minister Alok Kumar Mehta has been given additional charge of the sugarcane industry ministry.

Reacting to the resignation of Karthik Kumar, BJP leader Sushil Modi tweeted saying,The first wicket has just fallen. Many more wickets will fall now.”

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said Karthik Kumar It seems that Nitish Kumar has more self-respect.

Karthik Kumar is expected to appear in court on Thursday in a kidnapping case with interim protection from the court against any punitive action expiring on September 1.

Karthik, a close aide of RJD’s Bahubali leader Anant Singh, is facing kidnapping charges in Patna district and a case was registered at Bihta police station in 2014. The warrant was issued in the first week of August. As per the charges against him, he was involved in the kidnapping of a person named Rajiv Ranjan in 2014 and an FIR was registered at Bihta police station. The victim had given a statement in the court under CrPC 164 in which she had mentioned the name of the RJD leader. Besides this, he is also facing other criminal charges at Mokama Railway Police Station and other police stations in Patna and adjoining districts.

The BJP has been attacking the new government ever since Kumar was sworn in as law minister. Kumar did not attend the court hearing in this case on August 16 when he was sworn in as a minister.
