“Bipin Bhai Makes It Look So Easy” – MCFC Winger Says Chhangte Responding To Brother Bipin, “Dribbble Or Shoot, My Brother Has Everything”

On Saturday, Mumbai City FC will take on FC Goa in a game that will have a huge bearing on their fight for the ISL League Winners’ Shield.

Mumbai City FC are undefeated so far, and if they manage to extend that streak to 17 matches, they will take a huge step towards securing the Shield.

Central to this dominance for the Islanders has been the camaraderie between wingers Lallinzuala Chhangte and Bipin Singh. They have collectively been involved in 22 of Mumbai City FC’s 47 goals this season.

Chhangte has scored 9 goals and 5 assists in 16 matches and said having a player like Bipin on the other wing has played a big role.

“Having a player like Bipin bhai, who can run as fast as me, makes the job a lot easier,” Chhangte said.

“And, of course, even the foreign players – they are very helpful on and off the pitch. When I see them running, especially players who are older than me, running and chasing the ball , That gives me extra motivation to help them.”

This season both Chhangte and Bipin have opened up defenses with their pace, dribbling and ability to link up with each other. It is not uncommon for Mumbai attacks to begin with Chhangte’s runs past defenders or Bipin’s blistering runs down the flanks.

Bipin says he and Chhangte are close on and off the field and their admiration for each other is reflected when they speak.

“I have been seeing Bipin for the last two years. One thing I like about him is that he can use both feet. But I don’t know whether his left leg is better than mine or not! Chhangte laughed.

“He never hesitates to dribble and if he gets a chance to cross he always passes. Sometimes he is very unpredictable and I need to learn from him too. I enjoy playing with him comes.”

Chhangte’s rating of Bipin is captured in just one sentence – “You have seen it on the pitch – his dribbling and shooting. My brother has it all.

While Bipin and Chhangte have been crucial to Mumbai City FC’s success, Bipin was quick to point out that the team’s success came from buying into head coach Des Buckingham’s vision and getting to know it over two seasons.

He said, ‘Last season it took us some time to understand their game plan. Of course we tried, but this time it was more comfortable, we all understood what needed to be done. Those who play regularly are performing and those who are on the bench have also raised their game and come to the same level,” he added.
