BJP attacks Congress govt in Himachal for disbanding Staff Selection Commission, demands review

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had said that the ongoing recruitment process from HPSSC has been shifted to Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), Shimla in the paper leak case.

The BJP on Wednesday criticized the Congress government for disbanding the Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission over the paper leak cases, saying the decision would further delay the results of the recruitment exam and also adversely affect HPSSC employees.

State BJP president Suresh Kashyap said, “The government should have reformed the functioning of the commission, but it chose to scrap it.”

He said that thousands of youth have appeared in the recruitment examinations in various departments and they will have to wait more for the results.

Former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, under whose rule the Hamirpur-based HPSSC was formed, termed its dissolution as anti-people in general and anti-youth in particular.

He said his government had set up the commission in 1998 to decentralize and speed up the selection process for Class III and IV employees.

Announcing the dissolution of the commission, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had said that the ongoing recruitment process from HPSSC has been shifted to the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC), Shimla, until an alternate arrangement is made. is or a testing agency is not constituted. Dhumal said that disbanding the commission would cause inconvenience to the candidates. It would take two days for a person to reach Shimla from the interior areas of Chamba, Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti districts. He said that women candidates will suffer the most.

He said that this decision would also adversely affect the employees of HPSSC who would lose their seniority if transferred to other departments.

The state government on Tuesday dissolved the Hamirpur-based Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission. Its operation was suspended in December last year after the paper of Junior Office Assistant JOA (IT) was leaked.

The JOA (IT) exam scheduled for December 25 was canceled as the paper leak was detected on December 23, 2022, after the vigilance seized HPSSC senior assistant Uma Azad’s solved papers and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash was arrested with. So far eight people have been arrested in the case – Uma Azad, her sons Nikhil Azad and Nitin Azad, brokers Sanjeev and his brothers Shashi Pal and Neeraj, Ajay Sharma and Tanu Sharma.
