BJP: BJP’s Nirahua, SP’s Dharmendra Yadav File Papers for Azamgarh By-Election | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: Process of filing nomination ends Azamgarh Lok Sabha by-election on Monday with former MP Dharmendra Yadav and Bhojpuri star Dinesh Lal Yadav’Nirhua‘ Filing papers as Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates, respectively.
The suspense over the SP candidate continued till Dharmendra reached the district to file his nomination on Monday, because even after getting information from the high command, no local leader or office-bearer was ready to confirm the name of his candidate. Dharmendra, along with other senior leaders including former UP minister Durga Prasad Yadav, Ram Govind Chaudhary, reached the nomination site in the collectorate and filed the form.
After filing the form, Dharmendra said, ‘Azamgarh has always encouraged socialists despite all the challenges. My fight is not against any one person but against those who have misled people with false claims and promises. I am fortunate to have got a chance to contest from Azamgarh, which Netaji (party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav) termed as his heartbeat and also represented by party supremo Akhilesh Yadav.
He also targeted BJP on the issues of inflation, unemployment, farmers etc. Before him, BJP State President and UP Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh reached the Collectorate along with Nirhua to complete the formalities of filing nominations.
On coming out of the nomination venue, Nirahua said, “SP is no match as it does not have a grand alliance. BSPLike in 2019. Despite the SP-BSP alliance in 2019, the people of Azamgarh blessed me and now they are determined to vote for development and not caste this time.”
Claiming that the contest here would be between the BJP and the BSP, he said, “Yadav and Muslims are also realizing that their future will be bright under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.”
The BJP state president said that in 2019, people’s blessings to Nirhua will result in this by-election because the people of Azamgarh have decided to send them to the Lok Sabha inspired by the vision and works of Modi and Yogi governments. He said that in the recently held assembly elections, BJP has performed well in all the assembly seats of Azamgarh. Terming the SP as ‘dynastic’, he said social equations are preparing the ground for a contest between the BJP and the BSP here.
The BSP has fielded former MLA Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali, who unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Polling will be held on June 23 followed by counting of votes on June 26.
