The BJP on Sunday expelled party leader and cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat in the Uttarakhand government for six years ahead of the assembly elections. Sources say that the leader has been sacked for his anti-party activities.

Harak Singh Rawat has also been removed from the post of cabinet minister in the Uttarakhand government.

According to sources, sitting MLA from Kotdwar Harak Singh Rawat wanted to change his seat to Kedarnath. He was also asking the party to field his daughter-in-law from Lansdowne seat, where the BJP has sitting MLAs. The party was not ready for this.

Assembly elections in Uttarakhand will be held in a single phase on February 14, 2022. The counting of votes will take place on March 10.
