BJP hiked tax by 17 times and forced traders to pay: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday said the BJP-ruled municipal corporation has increased taxes by 17 times and forced traders to pay it. AAP claimed that the party had cut taxes close to the elections, but it is not returning the money which traders were forced to pay earlier.

AAP’s chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “We have grown up hearing and believing that the BJP is a party of the business community. Today when BJP is in power, it has done nothing but completely ruin the community of traders. Forget the Centre, if we look at the BJP-led MCD, in the last five years they have harassed traders for shedding tears of blood. And the leaders of the business community of BJP themselves sit and say that there is no one to listen to their demands.

Responding to the allegations, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said that being a seven-year MLA, Mr. Bhardwaj should have known that if any government tax rate is reduced in the middle of the year, then the payment will be made. Excess tax paid is not refunded but adjusted. in future.

Mr. Kapoor said that AAP will have to face consequences for its negative campaigning in the 2022 civic polls.

“People of Delhi will never forgive AAP leaders for running a negative campaign and the party will have to face the consequences in the 2022 civic polls,” he said.
