As the BJP continued to face fire and resorted to dousing fire after announcing 212 candidates in two lists for the May 10 assembly polls, disappointed candidates raised the banner of revolt.

After several deliberations, the BJP announced the first list of 189 candidates on Tuesday and the second list of 23 candidates on Wednesday night. With a total of 224 seats in the assembly, the party is yet to name candidates for 12 seats.

Mudigere BJP MLA MP Kumaraswamy and Haveri MLA Nehru Olekar on Thursday announced their resignation from the primary membership of the party after they were denied tickets.

“Some aspirants and MLAs have announced their resignations, some have resigned. We are talking to workers and leaders and things will be resolved in a big way. I am talking to seniors (who are disgruntled) Yes, our high command will also speak for them. I am sure things will be resolved,” Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said.

Talking to reporters in the coastal city of Mangaluru, he said things would be sorted out in some time.

Olekar said that he and his supporters have decided to resign from the primary membership of the party.

“Around 1,000 supporters are resigning with me. We will send it (resignation letter) to the district president. I have received calls from other parties including JD(S). I will decide after talking to my supporters and voters.”

Former MLA Sogadu Shivanna, aspirant for Tumakuru city ticket, has also resigned from BJP as the party has decided to field GB Jyoti Ganesh in his place.

He said that his supporters and voters had asked him to contest the elections and he would file his nomination before April 20.

On Wednesday, former deputy chief minister Laxman Savadi, who was seeking to contest from Athani, announced his resignation from the primary membership of the party, while minister and six-time MLA from Sulia constituency in Dakshina Kannada district S Angara announced his retirement. announced.
