BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has come under sharp criticism after he said that girls in “poor clothes” looked like “Shurpanakha” from the Ramayana.

On Thursday, a video of his remarks made at a religious function organized in Indore on the occasion of Hanuman and Mahavir Jayanti went viral on social media.

The BJP leader said, “When I leave for home at night, I see educated youth and children in an inebriated state…I feel like getting down (from the car) and asking them to calm down.” Slap me five to seven times.” ,

“We see goddesses in women. But the kind of unsightly clothes girls roam around in, they don’t look like goddesses but look like Shurpanakha. God has given you a nice and beautiful body…wear nice clothes guys.”

In the popular version of the Ramayana, Shurpanakha is the sister of the demon king Ravana.
