BJP said about the welfare schemes of UPA, PM Awas Yojana has empowered women

To take on the opposition over 60 years of UPA versus eight years of the Modi government, the BJP organized a fortnight starting from its foundation day on 6 April to try and spread awareness about the central government’s welfare schemes for housing. ‘Social Justice Fortnight’ has been organized for , free grains and health.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government constructed 2.5 crore houses in eight years as compared to 3.26 crore housing units in 60 years of the UPA-led Congress rule. The BJP government has another target of building one crore houses.

The previous governments had spent Rs 70,000 on building houses, which has gone up to Rs 1.20 lakh in plains and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly areas.

Along with this LED bulbs, toilets and MGNREGA and free cylinders also contributed in making the lives of the poor easier, said a senior leader.

Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that the “Housing for All” program has many dimensions.

“Previous governments manufactured 11.21 lakh units per year while Modi government manufactured 36 lakh units per year. “They used to make 54,000 units per year, we are making 2.70 lakh units per year,” Singh said.

In 2014, 2.35 crore women were associated with self-help groups and now there are 8.20 crore. “Its aim is to empower women and the Modi government is working in this direction,” Singh said.

With BR Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14, PM Modi had asked BJP MPs in the BJP parliamentary meeting last week to interact with the poor and underprivileged section of the society to highlight the welfare schemes of the government.

The meeting was attended by top party leaders including BJP National President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi.
