BJP will woo the followers of Lord Parashuram before the UP elections, campaign plans to restore the dhams across the state

Ahead of the elections in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is planning a massive campaign to redevelop religious places associated with Lord Parashuram in the hope of reaching out to the Brahmin community.

An image of Lord Parashuram, believed to be the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was presented by Shiv Pratap Shukla and other Brahmin leaders of the state to JP Nadda, who met the BJP chief on Monday morning.

Speaking to News18.com, Sunil Bharala Bhardwaj said that BJP is committed to protect culture and heritage, and renovation of Lord Parashuram’s temples is part of that larger movement.

“While there are many places of worship of Lord Parashuram, there are five main ones in U.P. Dhams In Jalalabad, Bhagpat, Kannauj, Chandauli and Ballia. Shri Parshuram University was also approved by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. We hope that the land will be found and the foundation stone will be laid at the earliest,” said Sunil Bharala Bhardwaj, president, Labor Welfare Council, UP government.

The party has asked its Brahmin leaders to take on opposition leaders who accuse the BJP of being “anti-Brahmin”. Brahmins make up 15 to 17% of the state’s population, most of whom voted for the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
