“BJP worker hurled phone at PM’s vehicle in a fit of rage”: Karnataka Police

PM Modi during road show in Karnataka

Mysore:

Police said a mobile phone was hurled towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was conducting a roadshow in a specially designed vehicle as part of his campaign for the May 10 assembly elections.

According to the police, a woman BJP worker threw the phone in ‘provocation’, which had no ‘malice’.

The phone falling on the bonnet after being thrown at the vehicle did not go unnoticed by the Prime Minister and he signaled the object to the Special Protection Group (SPG) officials who were accompanying him.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Alok Kumar said, “The prime minister was under SPG protection. The woman (whose phone fell on the PM’s vehicle) was a BJP worker. The SPG men later returned her.” told PTI.

“It was thrown in provocation (of the incident) and had no (ill) intention, but we are trying to trace the woman as the SPG officials had handed over the phone to her,” he said.

The incident took place when PM Modi, surrounded by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Prathap Simha and former ministers KS Eshwarappa and SA Ramadoss, was waving to a large number of people gathered on both sides of the road.
