BJP’s Tathagata Roy hints at ‘setting’ between PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee

Former Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy on Friday created a ruckus on Twitter when he tweeted about “apprehensions” in West Bengal about a “secret setting” between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. .

“Kolkata is plagued by the apprehension of a ‘setting’. Which means a secret pact between Modiji and Mamata, whereby Trinamool thieves and/or killers of BJP workers will be set free. Please assure us that nothing like this will happen.’ setting'” tweeted Tathagata Roy.

This comes amid the tweet’s four-day visit Mamata Banerjee to Delhi where she is scheduled to meet President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi on Friday. Mamata Banerjee plans to take up several issues with the Prime Minister, including GST dues for her state.

This visit of the Chief Minister is taking place amid the unearthing of the multi-crore teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal. Former Industries Minister of West Bengal (who served as Education Minister at the time of the scandal) Partha Chatterjee And his aide Arpita Mukherjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the land scam case.

Mamta Banerjee suspended Partha Chatterjee from TMC and said that there will be zero tolerance towards corruption.

The meeting is also interesting as former West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar is contesting against opposition candidate Margaret Alva in the vice-presidential election. TMC has decided to abstain from voting in the said election as Margaret Alva was not consulted before finalizing her name.

Mamta Banerjee will also attend the Governing Council meeting of NITI Aayog. The meeting has been held regularly since 2015 and issues related to agriculture, health and economy will be discussed in the meeting to be chaired by PM Modi this year.

Tathagata Roy served as Governor of Tripura from 2015-2018 and Governor of Meghalaya from 2018-2020. He also served as the President of the West Bengal BJP unit.
