In June this year, bmw had revealed that it will launch 10 distinctive ’50 Jahr M Edition’ variants in the product portfolio to mark 50 years of BMW’s M Performance division. The M340i and 6 Series were the first two cars to get the ’50 Jahre M Edition’ makeover, and now, it’s time for the 5 Series to get the same treatment.
BMW has launched the 5 Series ’50 Zahr M Edition’ in India for Rs 67.50 lakh. The special edition will only be offered with the 530i M Sport variant of the luxury sedan. Note that the standard BMW 530i M Sport It is priced at Rs 64.50 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom), which makes the 530i M Sport ’50 Jahre M Edition’ costlier by Rs 3 lakh.
So what exactly gets you the extra money? For starters, the 530i M Sport 50 Jahre M Edition comes with four exterior color options – Alpine White, Carbon Black, Phytonic Blue Bernina Gray Amber and Alpine White. Changes made to the standard 5 Series include dark LED headlamps, gloss black kidney grille and window surrounds, as well as 18-inch M Jet Black alloy wheels with red brake calipers.

The model also gets the M symbol on the outside, which includes the BMW Motorsport logo on the alloy wheel hub caps which are semicircles in blue, purple and red colours. On the inside, the 5 Series 50 Zahra M Edition comes equipped with sportier seats with cognac upholstery with contrast stitching, a piano black finish on the center console and black ceramic surround for controls.
Powering the car is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine as the standard 530i M Sport. This engine makes a maximum power of 252 hp and peak torque of 350 Nm, and is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. BMW claims that the 530i M Sport can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
