The BMW iX will be the first EV from the brand to go on sale in India.

The Bavarian carmaker has also confirmed the commencement of deliveries for the iX on April 22, 2022 and has started accepting pre-bookings at its dealerships across the country. The India-spec BMW iX will be launched in the xDrive40 iteration that will come with a 76.6 kWh battery pack and since it is xDrive or all-wheel-drive (AWD), there will be two electric motors mounted on each axle, in-all four wheels. turn on. The powertrain will churn out 322 bhp and 630 Nm of peak torque and take the SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds. BMW has also said that the more powerful iX xDrive50 variant has not been confirmed for India, but neither has it been ruled out for our market.

The MINI Cooper SE Electric will be the second EV from the group to go on sale in India within 90 days.

Details about the India-spec Mini Electric are still scarce but the company has started accepting pre-bookings for the model for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh. As per the global-spec model, the Mini Cooper SE packs an electric motor that develops 181 bhp and 270 Nm of peak torque. Power comes from a 32.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack with a range of up to 270 km on a single charge. The electric hatchback can do 0-100 kmph in 7.3 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 150 kmph. The electric version is about 145 kg heavier than the petrol model.

The BMW i4 electric sedan will be offered with two powertrain options. The eDrive40 is rear-wheel drive and makes 330 bhp and 430 Nm of peak torque. Now it takes 5.9 seconds to clock triple digit speed and the total battery capacity is 83.9 kWh while 81.5 kWh is usable. BMW estimates that the i4 can drive up to 483 km on a single charge per WLTP cycle. Then, there’s the all-wheel-drive M50 sedan that gets a pair of electric motors, one mounted on each axle. The electric motors here generate a total of 529 Bhp. BMW is yet to reveal the torque output for these all-wheel-drive variants. Now it’s fast enough for triple-digit speeds at 3.9 seconds using the same battery pack.
