BMW IX Launched in India in a single xDrive40 variant priced at ₹ 1.16 Cr (ex-showroom). This is the first all-electric offering from the brand in the country and also the first electric SUV from the Bavarian carmaker. BMW says the IX promises the practicality of the X5, the luxury of the X7 and the dynamism of the X6. And while we agree with the first two claims, we have yet to test the third. But a review is definitely in the works. That being said, BMW is one of the last luxury players to enter the EV SUV space, which already has quite a few options. So where does the new iX stand on the pricing front compared to its rivals? let’s take a look.

The Jaguar I-Pace is one of the more fun-to-drive electric offerings on sale in the country

BMW IX vs Jaguar I-Pace: ₹ 1.06 Cr – ₹ 1.12 Cr

The Jaguar I-Pace arrived earlier this year and is one of the best driver-friendly electric cars for sale in the country. It is a proper high-riding sportscar that gives you thrill and luxury while keeping the carbon footprint to a minimum. The electric SUV comes with a 90 kWh battery pack, while its two electric motors develop a combined output of 394 bhp and peak torque of 696 Nm. The company claims a range of 470 km on a single charge. Compared to the BMW IX, Jaguar manages to undercut the model by a fair margin. But remember, many of the Jug’s features are on the options list.

Audi e-tron quattro 55 emerges as a well packaged offering

BMW IX vs Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback: ₹ 1.01 Cr – ₹ 1.19 Cr

Audi India has also made a foray into the electric mobility space with not one but three launches. This included the e-tron and e-tron Sportback as well as the e-tron GT. The previous offerings are direct rivals to the IX and match each other when you compare the specs of either model. Both the e-tron and e-tron Sportback have similar mechanics with a 95 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, while two electric motors, one on each axle, develop 402 bhp and 664 Nm. Audi claims a range of 484 km on a single charge on the e-tron. The Audi e-tron quattro 50 manages to undercut the IX by a decent margin with a sticker price of ₹ 1.01 crore, while the fully loaded e-tron quattro 55 commands a premium at ₹ 1.17 crore. The e-tron Sportback 55 brings a coupe roofline for more exclusivity and is priced at ₹ 1.19 Cr (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz was the first luxury car maker to enter the electric mobility space in India and the company started sales with the EQC electric SUV. The model offers a luxury experience amplified by its electric underpinnings, while power comes from an 80 kWh battery pack, which is larger than the iX’s 76.6 kWh battery pack. The electric motors are tuned to develop 407 bhp and 765 Nm of peak torque with a claimed range of 450 km on a single charge. The Mercedes-Benz EQC comes in the same fully loaded variant as the BMW IX.
