Book Festival at Swaraj Maidan from today

Governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan will virtually inaugurate the 32nd edition of the Vijayawada Book Festival here on Saturday evening.

More than 176 publishers and sellers will participate in the city’s annual event to be organized by Vijayawada Book Festival Society at PWD Ground (Swaraj Maidan) till January 11.

In a press conference on Friday, society president T. Manohar Naidu, secretary K. Lakshmaiah, Honorary President B. Babji, Xray Kolluri and others said that every day various new books will be released on the literary platform. Competitions in quizzes and other events will be held, while career talks for children and youth will be held on the platform.

Cultural activities will also be organized in the campus.

Sahitya Sabha Kalipatnam will be from Rama Rao Sahitya Vedika. Commemorative meetings will be held for Navodaya Ramamohan Rao, Kalipatnam Rama Rao, Ravikrindi Ramaswamy, I. Rama Kumar, VLN Reddy and Appa Rao. Birth centenary of Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Atreya, Vaddadi Papaya and Rachakonda Vishwanath Shastri will be celebrated.

He said that on January 4, a Walk for Books would be organized for book lovers from Gandhi Nagar Press Club to Swaraj Maidan.
