Bosch unveils 76-acre smart campus with hybrid functionality in Bengaluru

Bangalore Bosch India has unveiled its new, smart campus in Bengaluru’s Adugodi area, which can accommodate 10,000 employees, and offers a range of smart solutions based on sustainability, security and user experience for employees, visitors and facility management.
Over the past five years, Bosch has invested in 800 crore to develop the 76-acre campus named Spark.nxt.
As companies bring employees back to offices, they are also adopting a hybrid work model, where people report to work only 2-3 times a week. Bosch premises are designed for flexible workspaces, where a seat or desk can be booked in advance by employees. In the hybrid work arrangement, the daily attendance on the premises would be 70%, resulting in a 20% reduction in real estate costs.
“My new office is my new desk. It is a next generation workspace,” said Soumitra Bhattacharya, Managing Director, Bosch Limited and President, Bosch Group, India.

Technology and services supplier Bosch is expanding its artificial intelligence or AIoT activities of things in India by relocating its headquarters in Edugodi, Bengaluru to a new smart campus called Spark.nxt.

“A hundred years ago, Bosch came to India as a German company and now it is as Indian as German. It is a fine example of German engineering and Indian energy. The campus will play a leading role in developing the products and solutions of the future for India and the world. I urge Bosch to think about doing more in India and set goals for the next 25 years.”

Bosch India said it has leveraged its AI, IoT, automation and digitization capabilities to develop its smart campus to move towards the future of work. It has trained over 10,000 associates over the past two years through extensive reskilling initiatives.
The Bosch Intelligent Air-Conditioning and Comfort Assistant (Bianca) has been developed to improve employee comfort on campus and reduce the latter’s carbon footprint. By optimizing heating, ventilating and air conditioning operations (HVAC) based on occupancy and thermal preferences, Bianca HVAC can reduce energy consumption by 30 to 50%.
Similarly, the Wayfinder app helps in navigating the campus with ease. Smart parking solution Park ZEUS provides a seamless parking experience for both employees and visitors, reducing manual security efforts by up to 50%.

The vehicle-free complex, which will eventually allow only electric vehicles, will also house an experience center and Bosch flagship stores.

“Bosch has been a part of transformation in India for the last 100 years, and during this era we have revolutionized mobility and the ‘Beyond Mobility’ ecosystem. Soumitra Bhattacharya, Managing Director, Bosch Limited and Chairman of Bosch Group, said, With our new Spark.nxt campus, the company continues to invest in smart and sustainable solutions that are ‘invention for life’ and support the vision of Government, India.

Bosch will also hire 5500-6000 people in 2022-23 across all of its group companies.
The company has invested 50 crore for energy consumption reduction in the new Adugodi campus in the long term. The campus will meet up to 85% of its total energy needs from the purchase of in-house solar panels and Green Group captive power. About two-thirds of the annual domestic water demand in Bosch in India is set to be met through rainwater harvesting projects.

The visitor management system is designed to reduce wait times by up to 75%. Like airline web check-in, a visitor has to click a selfie in advance, submit an identity card and fill in details, virtually all. Once he reaches the premises, the facial recognition device issues an access card. Visitors can also take advantage of the Smart Locker facility. Going forward, the company is planning cardless visitor entry.

“As a global player, Bosch brings together partners from over 150 different countries. We foster a flexible and inclusive work culture that combines authenticity with cultural diversity. With our range of smart solutions “This campus proves our commitment to creating a greener ecosystem,” said Phillies Albrecht, Director of Management and Industrial Relations at Robert Bosch GmbH. With the responsibility of India from 1st July 2022.
