Bowl on Wheels: Taiwan Man Invents Stroller for Fish to ‘Explore’ the Land

Jerry Huang’s aquatic pets rarely feel like two lost souls are swimming in a fish bowl because they have to go for regular walks. In the city of Taichung, Taiwan, Huang can be seen pushing his latest invention: a goldfish bowl on wheels. “In the past, people used to take their dogs and cats, now they also take their parrots, snakes, lizards,” Huang, 31, told AFP. “Is there a chance for underwater creatures to explore the land above the water?” he asked himself. Huang, an avid drone photographer who creates a living content for his YouTube channel, soon came up with a solution.

After spending weeks tinkering with the design in his workshop, the goldfish stroller actually came together in a matter of days, pieced together from spare parts lying around.

The space-age-looking contraption (estimated cost $300-400) consists of a large, water-filled acrylic cylinder for the fish to live in, paired with battery-powered filtration and an oxygen system on a specially built trolley goes.

“I did a lot of research before building this fish tank. It is not a matter of moment. You need to understand the fish, ”he said.

They decided that goldfish, which are hardy and not particularly afraid of humans, were the best test subjects.

Huang is confident that his goldfish enjoy the adventure.

“We all have this urge to explore other, uninhabited alien worlds, so we send spacecraft out into the universe,” he smiled.

“If I were a goldfish, I would certainly be thrilled if someone invented a thing for me to explore another world.”
