Breakfast choices widening in pandemic: Survey – Times of India

MUMBAI: Some habits triggered by the pandemic are stuck with consumers. Snacking as a trend continues to grow and evolve as eight out of 10 (83%) Indians say they eat different snacks today than they did three years ago.
An Annual Survey by Harris Poll mondelez, covering over 250 respondents in India, found that a similar number of consumers ‘imagine there will be more snack options to choose from in the next three years’. Since 74% prefer to eat several small meals throughout the day, some meals are also being replaced by snacking, as opposed to larger meals. Consumers said they are looking for snacks to improve emotional, mental and physical health.
Mondelez India VP (Marketing) Anil Viswanathan told TOI, “What we first noticed was the widespread trend around reliance on three square meals of the day, with people wanting to snack more often. After the pandemic, when work shifted to consumers’ homes, they did more Started snacking. Because they didn’t have time to cook for themselves in the afternoon. Consumers then came back and said that snacking is actually playing a good part in their lives – it’s not just a transactional opportunity Was – it was really helping them cope, reset and help them connect. Snacking then began to take on more meaning than we anticipated covidAnd it’s also manifested in the way we’ve seen our business bounce back in 2020 and 2021.”
Consumers also attributed some of the snacking growth to standard of living, as 81% said ‘breakfast served different purposes for me at different stages of my life’.
