BS Yeddyurappa surrounded by BJP workers, forced to cancel election campaign

Bengaluru:

Former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa was today forced to cancel BJP’s election campaign after it was heckled by party workers in Chikkamagaluru district. The protest began after BJP national general secretary CT Ravi rejected Mr Yeddyurappa’s announcement that his son BY Vijayendra would contest from the family stronghold Shikaripura in the upcoming elections.

Dramatic scenes unfolded in Mudigere constituency of Chikkamagaluru district when Mr Yediyurappa arrived to lead the BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Yatra.

Party workers and supporters of CT Ravi gheraoed the Lingayat Bahubali’s car and demanded that assembly ticket be denied to MLA MP Kumaraswamy, who is eyeing another term from Mudigere constituency.

A visibly annoyed Yediyurappa was forced to cancel the roadshow.
Visuals from the scene show him leaving without participating in the yatra and CT Ravi walking on the other side with his supporters.
