BSF and Pak. Rangers exchange sweets on Diwali

The BSF said that such exchange of sweets and greetings on festivals of national importance enhances mutual harmony and brotherhood.

According to the BSF, personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets and Diwali greetings at the International Border in Barmer in Gujarat and neighboring Rajasthan on Thursday.

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also extended Diwali and Gujarati New Year greetings to the people of the state.

At many places in Gujarat, people were seen thronging the markets to buy new clothes, sweets and crackers.

According to photographs shared by BSF Gujarat Frontier along with a release, BSF personnel and Pakistan Rangers exchanged sweets at various border pillars.

“Exchange of such sweets and greetings on festivals of national importance promotes mutual goodwill, brotherhood and also plays an important role in maintaining friendly and peaceful atmosphere along the border between the two Border Security Forces,” the release said. “

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat congratulated the citizens on Twitter and said, “May this festival of Diwali be illuminated by the lights of twinkling lamps and may the new year bring happiness, prosperity and new energy in everyone’s life.”

Chief Minister Patel greeted the people of the state and Gujarati families across the world on Diwali and the Gujarati New Year, a day after Diwali.

In a statement, Mr Patel said that festivals and celebrations bring freshness and new consciousness to the society.

A release from the Chief Minister’s Office said that Diwali diyas symbolize a positive attitude and wish that the festival becomes a symbol of positivity for the general public.

Senior leaders of political parties also took to social media to wish people on the occasion.

“May everyone’s life be filled with light on this holy festival of Deepawali. State Congress President Amit Chavda tweeted, May your life be filled with happiness, peace, progress, prosperity, humanity and wealth and good health.

Congratulating in Gujarati, state BJP president CR Patil tweeted, “Wishing the people of Gujarat for getting courage like a lamp to fight the eternal darkness. happy Diwali.”
