BSP Lok Sabha MP Kunwar Danish Ali on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept the long-standing demand of setting up a hospital and medical college under Delhi-based Jamia Millia Islamia.
In a letter to Modi, the Bahujan Samaj Party leader said the “darker scars” of the second wave of Covid will remain for a very long time and reminded of the poor medical infrastructure, which “we had to pay a very heavy price for. Our preparation and unforgivable negligence”.
“As per the WHO report, the present challenge is not over and our health infrastructure is far from adequate, I request you to accept the long pending demand of the Central University of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, which is its 101 Celebrating th Foundation Day. Today, for setting up a hospital and medical college,” he said.

“There is a huge vacant land of the Irrigation Department of Uttar Pradesh near the premises of Jamia Millia Islamia in South Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area,” Ali said.
“This plot may be allotted to Jamia Millia Islamia for construction of medical facility for the benefit of large population of Delhi and UP,” he said.
“You will appreciate that Jamia Millia Islamia is a product of India’s independence movement and an embodiment of the idea of India envisioned by the leaders of our freedom struggle. Last year, Jamia ranked first in the overall ranking of Indian universities. was,” Ali said in his letter to Modi.
“Previous governments had many times promised a medical college on the campus, but the promise was never fulfilled,” he said.
“However, in the present situation, it is urgently needed and quite possible because you are the Prime Minister of India and your party is ruling the state of Uttar Pradesh,” Ali said.
Therefore, I request you to kindly direct the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji to start the process of allotment of the said plot and make other necessary arrangements to realize the dream of high level medical treatment. Do it. Colleges and hospitals which will be dedicated to serve the nation,” he said.
The MP expressed hope that the Prime Minister would gift a medical complex to Jamia Millia Islamia on the occasion of its 101st foundation day to help it serve the country better.
