Bus conductor falls, dies after driver suddenly applies brakes

A government bus conductor fell from the vehicle and died after the driver suddenly applied brakes to avoid a dog crossing the road in Salem on Tuesday.

According to police, Rajendran (54) was on duty as a driver along with Srinivasan in the Salem-Chettichawadi town bus.

As the bus reached the old bus stand, Srinivasan suddenly applied brakes to avoid the dog crossing the road. Police said Rajendran, who was standing on the footboard ahead, fell on the road with serious injuries.

Rajendran was taken to a government hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, police said, adding that the investigation was on.
