Capital Expenditure of Coal CPSE up 28.3%

The government on Wednesday said the coal ministry through its CPSEs has registered a 28.3% year-on-year growth in capital expenditure (capex) for the period ended December to ₹12,605.75 crore.

The Coal Ministry through its Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) recorded a capital expenditure of ₹9,822.28 crore a year ago.

This capital expenditure achievement is also 75 per cent of the Coal Ministry’s annual target, the ministry said in a statement.

Coal India (CIL) is one of the CPSEs under the Ministry of Coal. CIL had earlier said that its capital expenditure had more than doubled to ₹1,840 crore in the first quarter of this fiscal, as against ₹844 crore a year ago. It said the jump was a reflection of its growing investments in evacuation infrastructure, land acquisition and heavy equipment purchases.

CIL has achieved 94% of the ₹1,960 crore target set for the April-June quarter of the current financial year.
