A 65-year-old man was run over by a car on the fourth main road in Gandhi Nagar.
The traffic police said that the accident happened at 9.20 pm on Saturday night. The victim was identified as 65-year-old Krishnamurthy, who was working as a security guard in Gandhi Nagar.
While they were walking on the fourth main road, a speeding car came over them.
Police said the car stopped only after hitting three other cars and a bullock cart on the side of the road.
People caught the car driver and handed him over to the police.
Traffic Investigation Police Adyar has started investigation into the matter.
