Case against Karnataka minister, family alleges threat, attempt to commit suicide

Karnataka Tourism, Ecology and Environment Minister Anand Singh has been booked for allegedly threatening a family over a land dispute, members of which later attempted to set themselves ablaze, police said on Wednesday. Told.

He said an FIR has been registered against the minister and three others under sections 504 and 506 of the SC-ST Act and IPC following a complaint by D Polappa.

The case pertains to a dispute over a piece of land between members of a community in a village in the district and Mr. Polappa, who belongs to the SC community.

During the minister’s visit to the village on Tuesday, members of the community urged him to help resolve the dispute.

Mr Polappa alleged in his complaint that the minister had threatened to burn his entire family.

The complainant reached the Hospet rural police station along with five of his relatives on Tuesday night. Everyone tried to set themselves on fire. However, he was rescued and taken to the hospital, the police said.

A case of attempt to suicide has also been registered against Polappa and five others, he said.
