Case will not go in court: Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh | Ludhiana News – Times of India

Patiala: Former chief minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday said the case against former minister Bikram Singh Majithia would not come under legal scrutiny as the government “did not follow the due process of law”. Amarinder claimed that Punjab Deputy CM and Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was in denial about drone infiltration from Pakistan, while Congress’s Rajpura and Ghanaur MLAs had “plundered the state”.
Amarinder inducted senior Congressman Jagdish Kumar Jagga into his party Punjab Lok Congress during a public meeting in Rajpura. Responding to a media query regarding the case against Majithia, he said, “Eh wrong parcha hoya (FIR is wrong). What is the basis for booking him? Report on drug trafficking sealed with Punjab and Haryana High Court.” There is a law in the country and this matter will not come under legal scrutiny in his court. Just because you don’t like someone, you can’t put him behind bars.”
On the recent incidents in Amritsar and Kapurthala, Amarinder said the sacrilege was unfortunate but killing the accused after questioning was “illegal and absolutely unacceptable”. “It was a law and order problem. There are no (spy) agencies behind the sacrilege. From what I understood from the video, the accused was not mentally balanced. He should have been handed over to the police.” On public anger over justice not being served in the Behbal Kalan case, the former CM said his government had fought a protracted legal battle to get the probe back from the CBI and some police officers Including 22 people, who are currently out on bail.
