Cat weighing as much as a four-year-old child has been adopted in the US

A cat in Virginia is in the news for its weight. Called Patches because of the black spots on its white body, the cat weighs 40 pounds (18.2 kg) – about the same as the average four-year-old human child. Photos of it were posted to Facebook by Richmond Animal Care and Control, which attempted to get cat lovers to consider making it their own. “Did you wake up today and say, ‘Let’s adopt the greatest cat ever?’ If so, we have a cat for you,” the animal shelter said.

Richmond Animal Care and Control later announced that the cat had been adopted. Patch is on a “very special” diet and exercise plan, the shelter wrote, calling the cat “very sweet.”

The post, which showed spots on the cat’s body and its gray tail, garnered thousands of reactions and comments.

Metro The cat was said to have been adopted by Kay Ford after she posted pictures of him online. Ms. Ford said she knew immediately that he was the cat for her.

“I saw Patches’ picture and I knew immediately that I needed to go and get her. I knew nine billion people were going to fall in love with her at the same time,” she was quoted as saying by the outlet.

Richmond Animal Care and Control posted a picture of Patch with his new owner, as well as a video The cat is shown being taken to the kennel. Shelter wrote, “40lbs of love out there.”

Ms Ford commented on the video with a sweet photo of Patch in his new home with another cat and a small dog.
