Cate Blanchett to top Pedro Almodovar’s ‘A Manual for Cleaning Women’

The film is an adaptation of Lucia Berlin’s short story collection of the same name, which includes 43 stories about women in a variety of demanding jobs.

Cate Blanchett will be the title of the first English-language feature film from critically acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodovar.

Titled “A Manual for Cleaning Women”, the film is an adaptation of Lucia Berlin’s short story collection of the same name, which includes 43 stories about women in a variety of demanding jobs.

According to time limitThe project is in the early stages of development, with production for the New Republic Pictures of Blanchett’s production banner Dirty Films in association with El Desio.

Other producers for the film include Andrew Upton and Coco Francini, as well as Bradley Fisher with Brian Oliver and Almodovar.

The 72-year-old Spanish director, best known for critically acclaimed films such as “Talk to Her”, “Tie Me Up! Tie Me Up!” and “Parallel Mothers”, previously directed the 2020 English-language short film “The Human Voice”, starring Tilda Swinton.

Blanchett has been busy with several projects lately, including Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up” and Guillermo del Toro-directed “Nightmare Alley.”

She will next appear in Todd Field’s “TAR”, del Toro and Mark Gustafson’s “Pinocchio” and Eli Roth’s “Borderland”.
