CBDT refunds over ₹70,120 crore between April 1 and September 6

Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT has issued refund of 70,120 crore to more than 26.09 lakh taxpayers between 1 April 2021 to 6 September 2021

Income Tax India said in a tweet, ‘Income Tax Refund’ Rs 16,753 crore has been released in 24,70,612 cases and corporate tax refund of Rs. 53,367 crore has been released in 1,38,801 cases.

“CBDT issues refund of more than Rs. Income tax refund of Rs 70,120 crore to over 26.09 lakh taxpayers between April 1, 2021 and September 6, 2021. Rs 16,753 crore has been released in 24,70,612 cases and corporate tax refund of Rs. 53,367 crore has been released in 1,38,801 cases.”

The central government on Thursday extended the due dates for filing of income tax return and various audit reports for the assessment year 2021-22.

“The CBDT had further extended the due dates for filing ITR and audit report for the year 2021-22 in view of the difficulties pointed out by the taxpayers in filing ITR. CBDT Circular No.17/2021 dated 09.09.2021,” the tax department further tweeted.

“Considering the difficulties reported by the taxpayers and other stakeholders in filing various reports of income tax returns and audits for the assessment year 2021-22 under the Income Tax Act, 1961, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has decided to To further extend the due dates for filing of income tax returns and various reports of audit for the assessment year 2021-22, the CBDT statement said.

The due date for furnishing the return of income for the assessment year 2021-22, which was 31st July, 2021, which was extended to 30th September, 2021, has been further extended to 31st December, 2021.
