CBI has arrested an absconding accused in Vyapam scam case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the absconding accused Hari Om Gupta from Latur district of Maharashtra in a case related to the Forest Guard Recruitment Examination 2013 conducted by Vyapam.

The CBI had immediately registered the case in compliance with the Supreme Court’s orders of 9 July 2015 and 11 September 2015 and took over the investigation of the case from the Madhya Pradesh Police.

Earlier, an FIR was registered on March 3, 2013 at Ambah police station in Morena district of MP against the said accused and a candidate on the complaint of the center superintendent of a higher secondary school in Amba.

It was alleged that during the Forest Guard Recruitment Examination 2013 held on March 3, 2013, the said accused had appeared in the written examination against roll number 394262 in the name of the original candidate. During investigation, the said accused (an impersonator) was arrested by the police and fingerprints of his sample were also taken.

After investigation, a charge sheet was also filed by the police against the said impersonator and a candidate in the court of Judicial Magistrate on June 6, 2013. During the hearing, the permanent address of the said accused Maharajganj of Uttar Pradesh absconded from the court. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him.

CBI visited various places in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra in search of the said accused. After hard efforts, CBI traced the said absconding accused and arrested him from Latur. The arrested accused was produced before the Additional Sessions Judge, CBI Affairs at Gwalior and sent to judicial custody.
