Senior TMC leader and Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal was arrested by the CBI last year for his alleged involvement in the cattle smuggling scam.
The Trinamool Congress on Friday claimed that central agencies are reluctant to act against BJP leaders despite having evidence of their involvement in the cattle smuggling scam.
“CBI and ED are very prompt in taking action against TMC leaders and people from opposition parties, be it in Bengal or other states. But, whenever it comes to taking action against BJP leaders, they keep mum,” said senior TMC leader Sameer Chakraborty.
Chakraborty accused central agencies of taking action against TMC leaders on the basis of “allegations made by BJP leaders”.
But even after having concrete evidence against BJP leaders, CBI and ED do not take any action.
Investigating agencies have arrested several Trinamool Congress leaders and MLAs in corruption cases in the last one year. Senior party leader and Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal was arrested by the CBI last year for his alleged involvement in the cattle smuggling scam.
The CBI had earlier also arrested a BSF officer in this case. Then, why should the BJP leaders not investigate the scam? BJP is trying to mislead the public by calling all TMC leaders corrupt, which is wrong.
His remarks drew a sharp reaction from the BJP, which asked the ruling party of West Bengal to approach the court if it had any evidence.
“If TMC has evidence against any BJP leader, let it go to court. BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said that the party was making baseless allegations to save its skin.
