Kerala solar scam caseThe CBI has recorded the statement of Congress MP KC Venugopal in connection with allegations of sexual abuse by a woman, the main accused in the sensational solar scam in Kerala. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. He said the questioning took place last week.

Officials said the state police had registered six separate FIRs against six leaders, including Venugopal, former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and others. He said the CBI had taken over these cases last year on the recommendation of the state government.

Besides Venugopal and Chandy, Hibi Eden, Adoor Prakash, MLA AP Anil Kumar and BJP leader AP Abdullah Kutty are accused in six cases. The case was registered against Kutty in 2014 when he was the Congress MLA from Kannur. Later he joined BJP.

In a letter to the Commissioner of Police on July 19, 2013, the woman had leveled allegations of sexual misconduct and corruption against Chandy, some of her ministers and several Congress and UDF leaders, including two former Union ministers.
