The CBI raids took place on a day when the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan proved its majority in the Bihar Assembly. RJD is the single largest party in the Grand Alliance.
It is alleged that during Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister, candidates were given railway jobs in exchange for land. Later, several shell companies allegedly linked to Lalu’s family took over key properties in various cities.
The CBI alleged that job-seekers either sold or gifted their land in Patna to Lalu’s close relative, while a private company controlled by the family was involved in transfer of immovable properties in the name of family members.
A case was registered on May 18 against RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, apart from 12 people who were employed in railway zones of Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hajipur in 2008. -09, officials said.

Bhola Yadav, a close aide of Lalu Prasad, was arrested by the CBI last month. Many high profile RJD leaders have been targeted in today’s raid.
Here are the top developments of the day:
- CBI raids are going on at 25 places in connection with land in job scam case at different places in Delhi, Haryana’s Gurugram and Bihar’s Patna, Katihar and Madhubani.
- Former Bihar CM and RJD leader Rabri Devi said, “They are scared. A new government has been formed under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. All parties are with us except BJP. We have majority. We will not be scared.” This isn’t the first time this is happening.”
- RJD MLC Sunil Singh’s Patna residence was raided. Sunil Singh in his response said, “It is being done deliberately. It has no meaning. They are doing this thinking that out of fear, MLAs will come in their favor.”
- The raid on the under-construction Urban Cubes mall in Gurugram’s Sector 71, believed to have been built by a firm owned by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
