CBI raids several RJD leaders in land-for-job scam: Top Events | India News – Times of India

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday raided the residences of several RJD leaders in Patna and other places in connection with the alleged land-for-job scam. Finally after 11 hours the teams left the houses.
The CBI raids took place on a day when the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan proved its majority in the Bihar Assembly. RJD is the single largest party in the Grand Alliance.
It is alleged that during Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister, candidates were given railway jobs in exchange for land. Later, several shell companies allegedly linked to Lalu’s family took over key properties in various cities.

The CBI alleged that job-seekers either sold or gifted their land in Patna to Lalu’s close relative, while a private company controlled by the family was involved in transfer of immovable properties in the name of family members.
A case was registered on May 18 against RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, his wife Rabri Devi and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav, apart from 12 people who were employed in railway zones of Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, Hajipur in 2008. -09, officials said.

Bhola Yadav, a close aide of Lalu Prasad, was arrested by the CBI last month. Many high profile RJD leaders have been targeted in today’s raid.
