Center invites online applications to open new Jan Aushadhi Kendras in 651 districts across India

New Delhi The Central Government on Thursday approved the proposal of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), the implementing agency of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), to invite online applications for opening new Jan Aushadhi Kendras in 651 districts of various states. Gave it PMBJP was launched by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers/Union Territories to make quality generic medicines available to all at affordable prices.

Under this scheme, more than 9000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras are functioning across the country.

“The government has set a target of increasing the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras to 10,000 by March 2024.

The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers said, PMBJP’s product basket includes 1759 drugs and 280 surgical devices, covering all major therapeutic groups.

The scheme also provides an excellent opportunity for self-employment with stable and regular earning.

“Under PMBJP, an incentive of Rs. Jan Aushadhi Kendras are provided with financial assistance of Rs.5.00 lakh and one time additional incentive. 2.00 lakh (as reimbursement for IT & Infra expenditure) in North-Eastern states, Himalayan regions, island territories and backward areas identified as aspirational districts by NITI Aayog or to be opened by women entrepreneurs, ex-servicemen Medicines are provided to the centers. Divyang, SC and ST,” the ministry said.
