Center urges states to intensify covid vaccination campaign under ‘Har Ghar Dastak’

All beneficiaries who have not yet been vaccinated should be identified and vaccinated against COVID-19 On priority basis, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter to state officials on Monday.

Asking the states to widen the scope of the vaccination campaign under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign by door-to-door, Bhushan further suggested that the authorities adopt to encourage people to get the jab.

“Local heroes/influencers within the district or villages who have themselves been vaccinated can effectively motivate their peer groups. Credible persons/community leaders can be identified and appointed as ambassadors,” Bhushan said.

He added that these ambassadors can also be encouraged by specifying the referral code on CoWIN. “Each person they vaccinate should be added to their numbers in Covid-19 Vaccination Centers (CVCs) through CoWIN,” he wrote.

Apart from this, the health secretary said, they may be provided with a certificate of recognition in the gram panchayat or other such special functions.

“Persons who have received the first dose should receive text and voice call messages in local languages/dialects reminding them that they are about to receive a second dose of vaccine. These messages can be recorded in the voice of the local hero/ambassador.”

Bhushan said that along with door-to-door campaigns, workplace vaccination should also be organized to target people who are yet to have their second dose.

“I am sure that such innovative ideas or initiatives at the local level can help motivate people and mobilize the beneficiaries who are left out or left out,” he said.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya during a review meeting on Monday asked the states to prepare a micro-plan for COVID vaccination.

Mandaviya said, “We are in the final stages of COVID-19 vaccination. Let us launch an aggressive campaign to ensure complete COVID-19 vaccination by increasing the pace of vaccination and expanding coverage.”

Reiterating that vaccination is the most powerful weapon in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minister urged the States to ensure that all the stakeholders including NGOs and faith-based organizations are fully immunized against all eligible populations for COVID-19.
