CESL invites bids for 3,500 electric cars

New Delhi: Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), on Monday said it has invited bids for leasing out 3,500 electric vehicles (EVs) for a period of up to five years.

“Bids are invited from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) / Leasing Agencies / NBFCs for leasing 3500 Electric Cars (4W) to various Departments and Autonomous Bodies in 18 States and Union Territories for a tenure of 3-5 years Huh.” the company said in a statement.

These include Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, West Bengal, Haryana, Assam, Odisha, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand.

Through this tender, the company plans to make available the demand it has collected for EVs, and financiers will have to purchase the vehicle and lease it to CESL or a government partner for a specified period.

“CESL will charge service charges for providing the total demand of cars. The State Authority or Department shall be responsible for providing dedicated space, location and all necessary approvals for setting up the charging station.”

“Having operated around 2,000 cars and having gained some experience around this business, now is a good time to access the market. The demand for replacement of fleet is increasing very fast. I hope that through the design of suitable structures, we are able to meet that requirement and involve other stakeholders,” said Mahua Acharya, MD & CEO, CESL.

The company said there are over 1,857 cars on Indian roads being used by various government departments under the management of CESL.
