Chandrababu Naidu cried at the press meet

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday broke down in the Assembly over the “derogatory remarks” made by members of the ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) against his wife.

Saying that Speaker Tammineni Sitaram did not allow him to condemn the remarks made against his wife, Mr Naidu suddenly wept at the press conference. Wiping tears, the opposition leader said his wife showed minimal interest in politics. “She never went with me without requesting to follow the protocol. She has no idea who is in the TDP,” he said.

The Speaker, who should have withheld the comments, did not say a word. I will leave it to his discretion, and he should introspect, Mr Naidu said, adding that he will enter the assembly only as a chief minister.

Recalling that he worked with many stalwarts at the national level, Shri Naidu said that the positions were not new.

TDP always strived for the people and the state. TDP always takes precedence over values. During the last two and a half years, there have been many criticisms and counter-criticisms. He said that neither the ruling party nor the opposition party has had such worst experiences.
