‘Changed Gentleman’s Game Forever’: Mithali Raj shares biopic release date, inspirational tweet cricket news

The rise in the profile of women’s cricket in India has been one of the biggest and most inspiring stories to come out of the most popular sport in India in the last half decade. Since India’s stellar performance in the 2017 ICC World Cup, which saw the team lose to England in the final, the women’s game has seen a huge increase in the interest of fans and sponsors. While the current crop of international players are taking advantage of it, two players have stood to serve Indian women’s cricket for many years. Test and ODI captain Mithali Raj and experienced pacewoman Jhulan Goswami The Indian flag has been flying at the international level in cricket for more than two decades now.

Mithali made her ODI debut in 1999, while Jhulan made her international debut in 2002. Both the women top the run and wicket charts in women’s ODIs respectively and will surely go down as the greats of the game.

Both women and their achievements are now the subject of two biopics.

Mithali Raj on Friday announced the release date of her biopic on Twitter. Actress Taapsee Pannu will be playing the role of Mithali in the film titled “Shabash Mithu”.

“Nothing is more powerful than a girl with a dream! This is the story of a girl who chased her dream right off the bat and changed the “Gentleman Game” forever… #shabashmithu The Unheard Story of Women in Blue will hit the theaters on July 15, 2022,” Mithali tweeted along with the film’s poster.

The biopic on Jhulan is titled ‘Chakda Express’ and actress Anushka Sharma is playing the lead role in the film.
