Chardham Yatra: Over 42,000 e-passes issued, 5,000 pilgrims reach Haridwar

Uttarakhand is witnessing a huge influx of pilgrims after the High Court allowed the Chardham Yatra with COVID-19 restrictions.

An official said on Sunday that more than 42,000 e-passes have been issued for Chardham Yatra from the website of Devasthanam Board. Chardham Yatra started on Saturday.

According to the Hindustan Times report, more than 5,000 pilgrims are reaching Haridwar every day.

Ravinath Raman, Garhwal Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Management Board said ANI, “Total more than 42,000 e-passes were issued yesterday and till date, out of which 9,989 e-passes have been issued for Shri Badrinath Dham, 18,934 for Kedarnath, 4,727 for Gangotri and 4,361 for Yamunotri.”

He further said, “Today 1,645 e-passes were issued for Shri Badrinath Dham, 2,160 for Shri Kedarnath, 788 for Shri Gangotri and 598 for Mayunotri.”

A total of 1,267 pilgrims visited the four dhams till Sunday afternoon, of which 368 pilgrims visited Shri Badrinath Dham and 536 Shri Kedarnath Dham, officials said, adding, “275 pilgrims in Shri Gangotri and 88 pilgrims visited Yamunotri Dham till date. “

Additional Chief Executive Officer of Devasthanam Board, BD Singh said that attention is also being paid to housing, food, medical health, clean drinking water, cleanliness in places of worship. He said that the pilgrims and the employees of Devasthanam Board are also following the Corona protocol.

The Nainital High Court had lifted the ban on the Char Dham Yatra, which officially began yesterday, along with a cap on the number of pilgrims who will be allowed daily for the four revered Himalayan pilgrimages.

The Uttarakhand government on Friday made it mandatory for pilgrims to keep a negative report of Kovid in its Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for Chardham Yatra.

According to the SOP, registration and e-pass will be mandatory for darshan in the four pilgrimages.
