Petrol and diesel prices remained stable on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, after more than four months. Earlier on May 21, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced reduction of excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 8 per liter and Rs 6 per liter respectively. On July 15, the Maharashtra government had announced a reduction in VAT by Rs 5 per liter on petrol and Rs 3 per liter on diesel. The Meghalaya government has increased VAT on petrol and diesel, as a result of which petrol in Shillong is now selling at Rs 96.83 per liter and diesel at Rs 84.72 per litre.
Today the price of petrol in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per liter, while the price of diesel is Rs 89.62 per litre. Petrol in Mumbai costs Rs 106.31 per liter and diesel costs Rs 94.27 per liter in Mumbai.
