Petrol and diesel prices on Friday 29 July, except in Maharashtra, remained stable again by oil marketing companies. On July 15, the Maharashtra government announced a reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 per liter and Rs 3 per liter respectively. Fuel prices in India have remained unchanged since Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on May 21 announced an excise duty cut of Rs 8 per liter on petrol and Rs 6 per liter on diesel.
Petrol price in Delhi is Rs 96.72 per liter as against Rs 105.41 per liter earlier, while diesel price in Delhi today is Rs 89.62 per liter as against Rs 96.67 per litre. Today, the price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 106.31 per liter as against Rs 111.35 per litre, while the price of diesel ranges from Rs 97.28 per liter to Rs 94.27 per litre.

Retail fuel prices vary from state to state due to local taxes such as VAT or freight charges.

Brent crude for September was up 0.79 per cent at $108 a barrel, while WTI crude was up 1.1 per cent at $97.51 a barrel, according to Reuters.
