Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is getting a taste of his own medicine as people on the internet bash him for charging exorbitantly for a small portion of “tasteless” fries (or chips, as the British prefer to say). Ramsay, who is known for his scathing comments when criticizing restaurant owners and their cuisine, is now at the receiving end of some scathing criticism himself. The root of his new trouble is a small price tag on chips at his Savoy Grill restaurant – £8.

Many people have taken to the website of travel company TripAdvisor to express their disappointment with the Savoy Grill in England. In his review, a customer said the portions were very small and came without potatoes or vegetables. “£8 for a portion of chips to go with my husband’s fish. Whilst I understand we are in the heart of London, I still find it excessive, and definitely one with at least a few vegetables Must come main courses that are cheap and plentiful?

Another complaint about the fries was how they were cooked. “The chips were very disappointing. Not hand cut or thrice cooked as you’d expect from this place, but regular and frankly, tasteless frozen chips,” read the review cited by Ladbible.

In a review posted a week ago, a customer wrote that their pumpkin soup got cold and the pasta they ordered came with so much sauce that “spaghetti was swimming in this bowl”. He further wrote, “Taste is very personal – but I personally didn’t enjoy any of the dishes including the desert, which was too sweet. The poached pear came super cold as if it was pre-prepared and kept in the fridge. Yes !

This isn’t the first time customers have disappointed Savoy Grill. A few months ago, people were appalled by the £275 per person price for Christmas dinner that didn’t include drinks or gratuity. A video of an Arnold Bennett soufflé served at the Savoy Grill costing £18 left people clamoring for their food.
