English Premier League club Chelsea said they were pressing for talks with the UK government after their billionaire Russian boss Roman Abramovich was hit with a UK asset freeze and travel ban.
The club said in a statement that it would complete its upcoming fixtures, but indicated that the restrictions placed on its day-to-day operations under a special license were too harsh.
“This would include permitting amendments to the license to allow the club to operate as normally as possible,” it added.
