Chennai Police arrests four for kidnapping and murder

The CMBT police on Saturday arrested four people, including a financier and a junior film artist, for killing a 50-year-old man after abducting him from a restaurant in Koyambedu to a house in Nolambur and then burning the body in a dumpyard. Near Mangadu.

Police sources said the victim has been identified as B Babuji, who was working as a collection agent with a financier and was living temporarily in Ayanambakkam.

The accused who have been arrested have been identified as L Venkataraman alias Chhota Venkat, 48, of Nolambur, a moneylender whose film personalities, his associates, M Ganapathi alias 29, of Maduravoyal ​Saravanan, a collection agent has a transaction. , M. Dileep, 30, of Maduravoyal, a construction worker and M. Gopi alias Naveen, 47, of Purasawalkam, a junior film artist.

Police sources said that the victim Babuji was working with the main accused Venkataraman. He was recently dismissed from his job after he was accused of stealing a two and a half gold chain from Venkataraman’s child. A complaint was lodged with the Nolambur police in this regard, which is pending.

Thereafter, Babuji joined another person, Gopal, who was a lawyer and involved in petty finance. He also cheated Gopal by cheating money. Babuji allegedly also abused Venkataraman among his friends.

On Thursday night, after discovering that Babuji was having dinner at a popular hotel on 100 Feet Road in Koyambedu, Venkataraman and his associates abducted Babuji in a car and took him to the former’s house in Nolambur. Babuji was mercilessly beaten up by the gang and he died at 3 am on Friday. The gang then took the body in a car to dispose of it and dumped it in a roadside garbage yard at Kolapakkam. Poured petrol on the dead body and set it on fire.

On the information of the people, police personnel arrived from Mangadu and recovered the partially burnt body. Later, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Koyambedu, S. Ramesh Babu started investigation and arrested four accused persons including Venkataraman.

Police have launched raids to nab Gopal and another accused, both of whom are absconding.
