Chhath Puja 2021: Continuing on the festive bandwagon, parts of the Indian subcontinent, especially Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, are lit up with diyas and engulfed in the festive spirit once again! One of the most important Hindu Vedic festivals celebrated in these regions, Chhath Puja falls on November 10 this year and many people across the country gear up for religious rituals. Chhath is celebrated in different ways, and it is our great pleasure that it includes some delicious food too! Like any other festival in the country, Chhath Puja celebration is incomplete without the required indulgent delicacies like sweet and soothing kheer. However, during Chhath festival, you will find a special kheer which is thick and creamy using jaggery prepared the day before Chhath Puja (Kharna), and is called Rasiyav.

Here we have brought for you the recipe of this special festive dessert. Referred to as rasiyav (or rasiya), fasting people open it up with this delicious treat. This jaggery kheer is made not only for Chhath but also for many other festivals and occasions like Sharad Navratri, Govardhan Puja etc. The specialty of Kheer lies in its decadent taste and unique colour. While other kheer may be white in colour, this jaggery kheer has a lovely brown color once prepared. Pour dry fruits over it which are fried in ghee and you are done. Chhath Puja 2021: How to make Rasiyav Kheer for Chhath Puja. Chhath Puja-Special Rasiyav Kheer Recipe:

Wash the rice in a bowl and keep it aside, mix the dry rice with pure desi ghee. Boil milk in a pan till it reduces to half. In another pan, fry all dry fruits in ghee. Once the milk is cooked, add all the other ingredients and mix until well cooked. Switch off the flame and add a handful of jaggery and mix until you get the desired color.

Always add jaggery after the pan turns off the gas. You can add either small pieces of jaggery or melted jaggery syrup.
