Chidambaram and Ganpati brothers on working together in Malayalam film ‘Janaeman’

The film starring Basil Joseph is directed by Chidambaram and co-written by his younger and actor Ganapathy

“Chidambaram and co-writer Sapnesh were working on the script, and I will give them my input. That’s when my brother suggested that I work on the script with him,” says Ganapathy, who debuted as a child artist in the film Satyan Anthikkad. Jan.E.Manu Initially planned as an OTT release, “We later felt that it would do well in theatres. After that the makers decided to release it in theatres. As we all know, the comedy does well in theatres. Works,” says Chidambaram. The film is a dark comedy about Joymon (Basil Joseph), a male nurse who leads an isolated life in remote Canada. The action unfolds at her 30th birthday party in Kerala when she Meet your friends.

“The script was written with Tulsi [Joseph] in mind, and he was very excited to be a part of the film. Arjun [Ashokan] Was to be part of the project from the time the project was being planned. Balu Varghese also… we are all friends so it is shown this way,” says Chidambaram. The film, shot in late 2020, was completed in 35 days.

If not for the lockdown, Ganpati says he intended to get into the technicalities of films. He made his first short film during the first lockdown onnu chiriku He also wrote the script about an elderly couple, “It was a long time that I thought of making a short. It is about this couple, in an agricultural setting. It was questioning who is the true communist,” says Ganpati.

As the release nears, Chidambaram says, “I am not worried, but I do have mixed feelings and some degree of nervousness.”

Chidambaram has no intention of shying away from the technical aspect of making a film and Ganpati wants to focus on his acting career.

“I am an actor. Had it not been for the lockdown, I don’t think I would have gone the other way. Changing from child actor to supporting/character actor has not been easy, now I am slowly getting a break.
