However, children are getting infected with other seasonal diseases as well.
Dr. Nitin Varma the director Madhukar Rainbow Children’s Hospital said that the children are coming down with Kovid-19 infection.
“I have a large number of cases that have covid Once again getting infected with Kovid for the second time. So a child who was infected with Kovid in January got re-infected in April and the one who was infected in April is now re-infected.”
Dr Verma said, “If it is a different strain there is no protection, so many children are getting Covid for the second time.”
He further added that children are also getting other infections, “Covid is going on and even now I get around four to five kids who are down and have proven cases of Covid in a day. Hand foot and mouth disease is a lot. , especially in young children going to school. There are a lot of viral fevers which are early cases of dengue and recently we have started getting cases of swine flu too.”
Dr Verma said that most of the COVID cases are mild which can be managed at home.
“Fortunately most cases are mild. Severity is only in adults. The advantage in adults is that they have also taken their vaccine. So they have slightly more symptoms but mild to moderate severity in children and all managed at home going,” he said.
Regarding the symptoms being diagnosed in the children, he said, “The children are showing fever, some of them have a sore throat. Some children are having rashes and others are showing symptoms of vomiting and diarrhoea.”
“Vaccination helps prevent the severity of illness, and ensures that you don’t land in the hospital or ICU And wearing masks, washing hands and practicing social distancing,” Dr Verma said on safety measures.
In most cases, children from schools are also getting infected with Kovid, Dr. Nitin Said that it is important to pay attention to the school environment.
“So obviously, we need to focus on the school environment to make sure that masks are mandatory in schools. You know, when kids are eating, they’re dispersed so they’re a- Don’t be close to others. Then this is one way we can stop the spread of Covid in schools,” said Dr. Verma.
On the issue of closure of schools to contain the spread of COVID, he said that there is no need for it unless the cases are very high.
“So, if there is a rapid increase in cases or we are seeing an increase in COVID cases with severe illness, then yes, it is important to close schools. But even in school, we can take measures like yours. The pass may be a hybrid model with half the number of people coming so that you can maintain social distancing. But I think given the current situation and the fact that the cases are not very serious, I would recommend closing the schools at this time. I won’t.”
