New Delhi India on Thursday said that China has started construction activities on the disputed border over the past several decades and these were on the basis of China’s unjustified claims on Indian territory which New Delhi never accepted.
The remarks came in response to a query on the annual US Defense Department report on military developments involving India and China, which was made public earlier this month, and called for the construction of a village inside Indian territory in Arunachal Pradesh. was noted. “We have taken note of the US Department of Defense’s report to the US Congress, which refers to construction activities by the Chinese side in the India-China border areas, especially in the eastern region,” State Department Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.
“The (India) Government has always expressed its strong opposition to such activities through diplomatic channels and will continue to do so in future also. In addition, as mentioned earlier, the government has also stepped up border infrastructure including construction of roads, bridges, etc., providing much needed connectivity to the local population on the border,” he said.
